アンドレアス・エリクソンの日本での初個展「Rakuyou」が無鄰菴で開催され、KIASは会場デザインの協力をしました。

アンドレアス・エリクソン（1975〜）は母国スウェーデンの田園風景を描くアーティストとして知られています。2024年春、エリクソンは日本を旅し、スウェーデンのアトリエで夏を過ごした後、再び京都に戻って、本展示のために一連の絵画5点及び彫刻2点を制作しました。

会場となる無鄰菴は、19世紀後半に山縣有朋の別荘として造営され、母屋・洋館・茶室の3つの建物と、七代目小川治兵衛によって作庭された庭園によって構成されています。その名の通り、それぞれが瞑想的な隠遁のための空間として機能しており、エリクソンはそれぞれの内部空間と対話しながら描いた新作を床の間に展示しました。また、絵画とともに、近作の彫刻作品群を展示することで、自然や伝統との関わりをさらに深め、媒体や概念を拡張したインスタレーションを発表しました。

KIAS supported the exhibition design and coordination for Andreas Eriksson's first solo exhibition in Japan, “Rakuyou,” held at Murinan, as part of “Art Collaboration Kyoto”.

Andreas Eriksson (1975-) is an artist known for his depictions of the countryside and nature in his native Sweden. in the spring of 2024, Eriksson traveled to Japan and spent the summer in his Swedish studio before returning to Kyoto to create a series of xxx paintings for this exhibition.

Murin-an, the venue of this exhibition, was built in the late 19th century as a villa for Aritomo Yamagata, and consists of three buildings (main house, Western-style house, and tea ceremony room) and a garden created by Jihei Ogawa VII. As the name suggests, each functions as a space for contemplative seclusion, and Eriksson exhibited new works painted in dialogue with each interior space in an alcove. Along with the paintings, the exhibition also included a group of recent sculptures, an installation that further deepened the artist's engagement with nature and tradition and extended the medium and concept of his work.
